Skills
I'd be a bad millennial if I didn't have a few side hustles.
I speak a few languages: French, Spanish, Antillean Creole, plus several more, if I'm ordering food. I've taught, tutored, and presented in French.
My other experiences range from identifying non-native plant species at a nature preserve to planning intercollegiate dance competitions in undergrad.
If you're interested, you can read about some of them below!
Study Abroad
When I was little, I used to watch my mom pull all sorts of strings to create unforgettable programs in Paris and Martinique. In college, I participated in two programs and gained a student's perspective.
Today I never miss an opportunity to join Delaware's Martinique program as an extra hand on deck (literally, during the traditional sailing lessons).
I think studying abroad is a great way to add context to learning and I hope to use my experience with groups to create successful programs for future students!
Language Tutoring
Did I mention that I love languages?
Since undergrad, I've tutored all types of students in both French and Spanish. From graduate students studying for their reading exams to those looking to practice their conversation skills before a trip, my goal is always to build confidence and communication in language learners.
Group Tours + Trivia Host
Before the pandemic, I worked as a Museum Scholar at the Museum of the City of New York. As part of the job, I designed and presented group tours of the museum's New York at Its Core exhibit as well as special exhibitions. Ranging from broader "highlights tours" to in-depth visits centered around a specific theme, this work showed me how to teach and engage visitors in a gallery space.
During the pandemic, I also hosted and created questions for a virtual NYC trivia at the museum. This was a fun opportunity to challenge participants with tough questions that tested their random New York knowledge—from botany to art.
Copywriting + PR
Before entering graduate school, I worked in the Marketing & Communications department at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library.
I wrote tons of press releases, coordinated media tours, and spread the word about the popular exhibition, "Costumes of Downton Abbey."
As an added bonus, I learned a lot about American decorative arts and how to drive a golf cart.
